Every penny that is raised here will go straight to the AV Foundation (http://www.avfoundation.org/) who will make sure that the money goes where it is most needed, into helping schools like Olchoki Primary School to keep on doing the incredible work that they do and providing a future for hundreds of children.

In order to help raise money for this amazing charity, I will be running the Bupa Great North Run this September. Those of you that know me will know how little exercise I normally take, so I hope that the fact that I am aiming to run it somewhere close to (or under!) the 1 hour 45 mark will persuade you to give generously! Having run it last year in a rather sluggish time of 1:59:38 I have got a lot of improving to do between now and September 19th but I hope that with some effort on my part I will be able to do it.

Your money will go into a project at one or more of several schools who would not survive without donations from people and charities. Lambo Primary School is one such school were AV is currently raising money to build a library so that children can have access to books to help with their learning, or just for the fun of reading. Whether it be a new roof for a classroom, additional text books, to something as small as some new water buckets, the Foundation can help these schools in the north of rural Tanzania. Most classes have about one text book to every forty children and in some cases it is even worse than that. Text books are not expensive and yet even they are too much for schools whose budgets are already stretched to breaking point. In subjects such as Biology and Physics, how are children meant to be able to learn about things like cells and stars  when they are not even able to look at a picture of one in a text book to see what they look like?

or simply into buying much needed pens and paper for a school where children have neither.
