Story
Thursday 2nd september 2010, along with around 280 other cyclists ,i begin a gruelling cycle challenge from London to Paris, the ride will take 4 days and cover an average of around 80 miles per day starting at greenwich,London and ending at the Arc De Triomphe,Paris.
The ride is in aid of The Royal British Legion and is now in its 15th year , along the way we will be stopping off at many 1st world war battle sites such as the Somme.
I think the British Legion does a fantastic job in helping nearly 10.5 million serving and ex service people and their dependants. This help includes, pensions and benefits advice, counselling and job retraining, home and hospital visits as well as the provision of full nursing care and spends around £75.5million per year on these services.
I would be delighted if you would sponsor me on this challenge, which i am sure you will agree is a very worthy cause indeed, for my part i have paid the expenses of the trip(around £700) and my company,Crossacre ltd will donate £1000 to the Legion.
I did a similar london to Paris cycle a couple of years back,so i know that this will be a pretty tough challenge, particularly if the weather stays as bad as it has been!,but its a challenge i am certainly looking forward to,and i have put in many miles of training, in all weathers, preparing for it.
