A call to arms.. 

Our family has received more devastating news.  Unfortunately as most of you all know, in February 2020 Aiden suffered a major heart attack and had just started to rebuild himself up.  Then on 31st August 2020 he became unwell and I dropped him off at MK A&E.  Several tests later we were told the devastating news that Aiden had AML (Acute Myeloid Leukaemia).  Absolutely devastated is an understatement.  Aiden remained as an inpatient in an isolation room at Milton Keynes Cancer Centre.  A few days after, his bone marrow biopsy proved that he actually has ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia).  This is a rare cancer of the blood cells.  Aiden began his first cycle of chemotherapy on 7th September 2020.  Each cycle lasts for 28 days and he will need around 4-6 cycles of treatments to try and get him too remission.  His treatments include, Steroids, Chemotherapy, Intrathecal chemotherapy, Immunotherapy and a stem cell transplant.  This is going to be an extraordinary long journey especially for Aiden but also our family seeing him go through this on his own owing to Covid-19 restrictions.  

We would like to call upon your help to donate whatever is possible in these challenging Covid times to the wonderful new Cancer Centre at Milton Keynes.  The facility is truly remarkable as are the staff.  The patients are facing the biggest challenges of their lives with minimal or no contact at all which on their toughest and darkest days is so hard.  The gardens need to be completed for the patients and families to enjoy and plays a vital part in the mental health and well being of everyone.  When we visit everyday we have to FaceTime or call to talk to Aiden and look at him through the unopened windows, this is not ideal but it boosts Aiden to see a loved one on a daily basis, this helps Demi to understand more about how poorly her Daddy is.  Myself, Cobie & Korey, Chapmans Building Services Ltd, will work with the landscaping company to start the gardens and to rally round from other tradesmen and volunteers whom will give their time up so that we can get these finished.  Flowers, shrubs, water features, areas to attract the wildlife, birds and new benches out the front of the MacMillan Unit have all been asked for by the team at MK.  Therefore we need to collect donations for these extra features that the Cancer Centre need to complete it.  This will make such a difference in patients wellness and general state of mind for their individual tough special journeys ahead.  We are helping make it happen and turning it into reality.
