Yep, that's right!  Once again, i'm donning the running shoes to embark on a charity fund raising mission, this time in Frankfurt, by entering this year's Messe Frankfurt Marathon - 26 miles (yikes!!) around the busy streets of my adopted home town here in Germany.  And with YOUR HELP at the same time I'm hoping to raise a substantial amount of money to be donated to the Association for International Cancer Research. 

Now at first glance I know I'm certainly not your average distance runner, but with a high level of commitment and determination to raise funds for this most deserving of charities I'm confident of making the 26 mile distance.  Yep, you're right, it is a long way.. but I've undertaken a pretty intensive (and more often than not, painful!!) training regime in a bid to be suitably prepared when that starting pistol fires and am hoping that will stand me in good stead.  I've set a target time of 3 hours and 30 minutes and if i manage that then i'll be pretty darn pleased..

And so the charity:  well for those not already aware of them the Association for International Cancer Research funds cutting edge research into the causes of cancer.  A cause personally very close to my heart.  In the past 25 years, they have supported a large variety of ground breaking projects in all corners of the world and currently have more than 220 projects underway. Theirs is an independent charity whose aim is to support fundamental research by eminent and promising scientists throughout the world, into the causes and prevention of cancer.  A donation from you will contribute towards further research into the causes of cancer worldwide.
