Hi Everyone!

For those of you that know us, will know that we are not runners in the slightest, however, we are going to give it our best shot as we have decided to take part in the 2024 London Marathon for Leukaemia UK in memory of our incredible and brave Mum/ Auntie Deirdre who sadly lost her battle with CML, Chronic Myloid Leukemia, on the 14th of July 2014.
All the Doctors, Nurses and Staff that looked after her while she was in their care were truly incredible and her last wish was to raise as much money as we could for the Haematology Department at Hammersmith Hospital where she was treated. With  the help of family and friends we did exactly that in her memory and raised the staggering amount of £43,390.00 in the end for them and the charity Leuka. We will be forever grateful to all the people that donated, took part or competed in these events, or helped us along the way. We acheived such an amazing amount of money in her name that it went towards purchasing a high tech piece of equipment called ‘RainDance’ which is still used today.
Although it doesn't feel like it, this was almost 10 years ago. Science and technology changes all the time so we can only imagine what the future can hold to patients battling Leukaemia and other forms of cancer but we all know fundraising plays a huge part in this.
We have since learnt that Leuka have merged charities and are now known as Leukaemia UK and it would be our honour to run the 2024 marathon for them in her memory.
We miss her every single day, but we know she would be so proud, (if not a little worried!) that we have taken on this challenge.
So, as 2024 marks the 10 year anniversary of Dee's passing what better way to mark it but to run the London Marathon on behalf of Leukaemia UK in memory of her….or like we said, at least give it our best shot!
Those of you who were lucky enough to meet her will know how she touched the hearts of everyone. She will live on through our fundraising. We miss her so much, but knowing the research Leukaemia UK does it can bring some comfort that maybe another family in the future will not have to go through the heartache that our family have and that one day a cure for Leukaemia will be found. 
So no matter how big or small we would appreciate any donation at all to this worthy cause.
