We help people with spinal cord injury to transform their lives

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page but don't forget to donate!

As some of you might know I wanted to take part in the Berlin Marathon (actually for the last 3 years but injuries prevented my participation).

Well, this year I thought I will take part come what may. Unfortunately my training consisted only of 3 runs a mere 12km each. I wanted to train more but the pubs distracted me too much.

Anyway on September, 26th  I gave my blood, sweat and a lot of tears and participated. I've gained a lot of blisters, pain and the knowledge that it is a stupid idea to run a marathon especially when you have a nasty cold and fever. But also when you are overweight, old and a heavy smoker and drinker.

I feel very bad to be so selfish to be the only one who lost something today (mainly the will to live between km 24 and 42).

I thought you should loose something as well - your cash.

The cash will not be for me but for a registered charitable organisation - Back-up Trust.

I worked with this charity before and they are truly amazing.

"Today three people will be told they may not walk again."

Many things they previously took for granted will be taken away in an instant.

Spinal cord injury does not discriminate. Breaking your back or neck is frighteningly easy to do and can happen to anyone through a road traffic accident, illness, sporting injury, or fall. Paralysis is permanent. There is no cure.

Back-Up does understand that a spinal cord injury can be devastating, but they also believe that it shouldn’t prevent anyone from getting the most out of life. Back-Up provides wheelchair skills training, mentoring and rehabilitative activity courses which grow confidence and independence by challenging participants and encouraging them to venture outside their comfort zone. The aim is to show people that they can still realise their potential after a spinal cord injury.

This is such a worthy cause that so please give graciously.  If you don't  I might be forced to show you pictures of my blisters!  :)

Thanks.
