Ok well I did it (2 hours 40mins for the first 13 miles but 6 hous 19mins for the whole hog)
A massive thankyou to all friends and relations who supported me.
A thankyou to Oxfam for the understanding support and care on the day. Good luck in all you do.
A particular thankyou to Andersons the Butcher in East Linton for the best stovies west of the pecos offering the carbohydrate boost each Saturday before the Sunday main run and to the Gullane Fry for the easy and friendly way they were willing to fill up a strangers water bottle on the main Sunday runs - and by the way they make the best pizzas east of the pecos.
To all who know me and to those who don't but would like to:
For many years I have been deeply concerned that countries who continue to be impoverished often have the same common denominator - no proper basic infrastucture i.e.no proper roads, poor drainage, little or no access to drinking water, lack of sanitation. Governments fail to take responsibility or recognise how much this contributes to the continuing despair of the people they govern, opress or supress. I donate to Oxfam because I believe they tackle these problems at root by using the money to provide and organise for what we take for granted in the UK as our right.
Other charities finish up treating the effects instead of the causes when inevitably something goes wrong in these countries. Oxfam does its best to sort these thing out. That is why I put in the effort to do participate in this event.
