I am joining an expedition in July to Virunga National Park, where it has been reopened to the public earlier this year. This will be exciting, but also the toughest adventure I have ever embarked.
Virunga is located in Democratic Republic of Congo and is home to the critically endangered mountain gorillas. There are only around 1,000 mounting gorillas left in the world. Sadly one step away from extinction.
One of the highlights of this expedition is meeting real HEROES who risk their lives to protect the park's wildlife; the park rangers. Since 2014 more than 175 rangers have been killed protecting the park by armed militia controlling large swathes of territory in and around it.
