Story
Dear All,
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am pleased and proud to say that, despite the worst of preparations - I got stranded in China at the end of last week after an educational links visit, and had to return via a circuitous route that took 48 hours and got me home on Friday pm - I DID manage to finish the Marathon on 25th April.
It was an extraordinary occasion. The support is as phenomenal, and the 'wall' as horrible, as they say! Without my brother-in-law Andi, who ran with me throughout on his 53rd marathon, I would have struggled to finish. However, after 4 hours and 11 minutes the worst was over. And, couting online and offline donations, which are still rising, I have raised getting on for £3000.
This money will go to Leonard Cheshire, a charity I was introduced to by my father during his time working in Africa. This charity provides services of many kinds to people with disabilities - 21,000 in this country - from residential care to supported living, employment schemes and skills training. LCD tries to empower people with disabilities of all kinds to live bigger lives and to fulfil their potential.
