Story
In the spring of 2018, Liv Byrom persuaded me to sign up to a running challenge with her. Tragically she died in a diving accident a few months later whilst on holiday after her medical elective - this was shortly before she was due to start her first job as a junior doctor. Liv was an incredibly talented sportswoman, a fun & caring friend and an amazing advocate for both Lifestyle Medicine and General Practice as part of our Bristol GPSoc committee. Liv worked closely with Student Minds - a charity founded by her sister. The charity provides invaluable support for students experiencing mental health problems.
I'd like to raise money for Student Minds whilst attempting a couple of cycling challenges as it felt like a fitting tribute to Liv's memory.
- On 23rd June 2019 I'll be attempting my first cycling century; the 109-mile Dartmoor Classic event - featuring over 1000ft of climbing. I'll be doing this with fellow medic and friend, Miranda Weller Jones
- In September 2019 myself and my Dad will cycle through the French Alps via a circular route, starting and finishing in the beautiful ski resort of Chatel - with part of the route taking us along the famous Route Des Grandes Alpes. We'll attempt to cover an average of 100km per day over a period of 10 days.
I'd be so grateful for contributions of any size. Thank you so much, Alice.
