In memory of Andreas Theodoros Papadopoulos

There are 14.7million people – that’s more than one in six – in the UK living with a neurological condition. Here at the country's leading neurological centre, we’re passionate about supporting the hospital to help improve the lives of patients through treatment and research.

Story

Dear Friends,

As many of you know, we are raising funds in Andreas's memory for the Brain Tumour Unit Appeal at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen's Square, London, where Andreas underwent two emergency brain operations in January 2010.

There is currently a significant lack of funding for research into, and treatment of high grade brain tumours in the UK, and we believe that the setting up of this Brain Tumour Unit at the National is crucial for the better diagnosis, treatment and care of patients with brain tumours. By specialising and investing in more focused research and clinical trials, the National hopes to see the kind of results experienced with breast cancer and childhood leukaemia, where prognosis and survival rates have changed very dramatically in recent years.

We have created this JustGiving page so that it is as easy as possible to contribute (especially for those of you living abroad). As the funds collected here also attract gift aid, this means that for every pound donated the National receives an extra 25 pence from the Inland Revenue.

I should like to highlight that it is possible to donate anonymously on this page, and that all funds raised in Andreas's name will be directed to the Brain Tumour Unit.

Thank you very much.

Alice
