Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm doing this bike ride specifically to help raise fund for Epilepsy Scotland and in particular research into SUDEP (sudden unexplained death in epilepsy).

This was the cause of my younger brothers death at 22. Graham, who lived with Epilepsy all his life left to go to a party one night and never came home. The next time I saw him was to identify his body at the mortuary.

If a person with epilepsy dies suddenly and no other cause of death is found, this is called SUDEP. In Scotland around 100 people die from epilepsy each year. Accidents and status epilepticus account for some of these, however, the most common cause of death is SUDEP.

I'm sure you must be asked often to sponsor and/or donate to charity, however, 1 in 97 people is Scotland have Epilepsy and it doesn't discriminate, Epilepsy affects Men, Women and Children of all ages, colour and creed!

Public ignorance and misconceptions about epilepsy in the past have led to fear and prejudice, I have experienced first hand and it is total unacceptable it todays society!

So, for ever ££ we raise you will be contributing towards helping addressing some of these issues and I will be genuinely grateful for any donation you can afford, however big or small.

Thank you
