Story
Allen Hughes had a rare and highly aggressive form of cancer called Adult T-cell Leukaemia. Despite the fact he knew the disease was a potential killer, he never once moaned about his situation and continued to live his life to the full. Allen was a wonderfully warm and charming person with a wicked sense of humour - one of life's great spirits.
All other treatment having failed, a stem cell donor was found in America and Allen underwent a transplant in December. Early signs were good but in recent weeks Allen's condition deteriorated and he became reliant on life support.
On Friday, March 8th a bone marrow test showed that the cancer had returned. Medical treatment keeping his vital organs functioning was withdrawn on Sunday and he passed away peacefully at 3.10pm.
