Story
Between 7 and 11 July 2010, I will be joining around 80 people cycling from London to Paris as part of Macmillan Cancer Support's London - Paris Cycling Challenge. We will be cycling for 4 consecutive days and covering just over 470km.
This is a charity which means a great deal to me. Some of you may know that I have had two very close family members who have passed away after suffering from cancer, firstly my father in law and more recently my grandfather. In the more recent case of my grandfather whom I was very close to, it was sad to see the suffering he had to go through in his last few weeks. However it was comforting for me to know that the great tireless work carried out by the Macmillan nurses was helping to make his last days extremely comforting for him. This is my opportunity to give a little something back to this extremely generous charity and ensure that this great support continues to be available for those who will be unfortunate to have to take on the challenge of suffering from cancer.
I have pledged to raise a minimum of £1400 to take part in this event, of which 65% will benefit Macmillan Cancer Support. I hope to raise more than this and hope you will consider sponsoring me in my challenge, which I am aware is a very minor challenge compared with the challenge that cancer patients face every day.
