With Robin travelling so much I thought it was about time I should go away!  However, instead of booking a relaxing two week beach holiday I thought I would challenge myself and hike through the Arabian desert in Jordan!

Sarah, Sef and I are going out of our comfort zone in order to raise funds to help disadvantaged and sick children.  We are joining the Let’s Trek for Children Jordan Challenge to support the work of four of the UK’s children’s charities: Barnardo’s, Kith & Kids, Dreams Come True and MedEquip4Kids.

The Let’s Trek for Children Jordan Desert Challenge takes place from 20-27^th March 2010.  The trek starts at The Dead Sea – the lowest point on earth and finishes five days later in the ancient red rock city of Petra.  Having walked for 6-8 hours each day with our Bedouin guides we will be camping under the stars in Bedouin tents each night.  All of the many steps taken will benefit hundreds of sick and disadvantaged children.    

We each need to raise a minimum of £2,500 in sponsorship funds. We are paying our own travel expenses so all the money donated to me will go directly to the charities mentioned. It is hoped that the event will raise more than £50,000 in total – money that will make a huge difference to these charities.

Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
