What Am I doing ?

On Sunday 21st March 2010 I, along with a couple of my colleagues (Richard Cowan and Ian McGregor), will be taking part in the Helly Hansen Adventure Race in Grizedale Forest in Cumbria.  The specific events will be announced to us on the morning but the event will take 3-4 hours to complete and will consist of:

 - 10 km off road running  - 25km Mountain Biking  - 1.5km Kayak Canoeing on lake Coniston -  'Special' stage  ( hopefully a Krypton Factor style assault course !)

 

Why and who am I doing this for ?

 

I am raising money for The Ear Trust who work with hearing impaired babies, primarily in the north of England.  (http://www.ycis.org.uk/content/eartrust.html for further info).

 

I have first hand experience of the excellent work that they do after my son was diagnosed as being severly deaf just after the age of two.  He received a Cochlear implant at the age of 3 which allows him to 'hear' and, although he has a long way to go with his communication , he's doing really well.  The work that the guys do really is life changing

 

I have set myself this modest target but would love to beat it, plus it will help to motivate me and keep me going on the actual day itself.
