Alopecia UK is a national charity providing support, community and education to improve the lives of those affected by alopecia. The charity relies on individual fundraisers and donors to continue its work. Alopecia UK receives no government or statutory funding.

Story

Thursday 19 June will be a momentous day for me. After more than 8 years in the pensions industry, I am leaping out into unknown territory! Eeeek!

As many of you know, I have volunteered for Alopecia UK for the past 18 months. It's been hard work at times (particularly balancing my volunteering with my job) but it has been incredibly rewarding and worthwhile.

The charity is a small one but the demands on it are great. The more we do as a charity, the more people come to us wanting our help. I will be continuing my work with the charity to help it grow and serve the many men, women and children in the UK who suffer with the psychological impact of hair loss.

On Sunday 13 July, I will be taking part in the British 10k in London. I am still recovering from an ankle injury sustained in March (yes, alcohol was involved- will I ever learn!?) so am unlikely to achieve a fast time. But I will be raising awareness by wearing my "I Have Alopecia" t-shirt and proudly displaying my patchy/nearly bald (again!) head.

If you could pledge a quid or two to support me in my latest round of fundraising, that would be fantastic. Perhaps you have worked with me at some point over the last 8 years and would like to wish me well. No amount would be too small. Every penny counts. Perhaps you could donate the cost of a drink and toast my departure from pensions!

Thanks for your support,

Amy x
