Story
Welcome, welcome and thankyou for coming to my Whizz-Kidz JustGiving page!!!
On Sunday the 25th of April 2010 I will be running, trudging and then probably crawling through the streets of London with my best mate Jo in the name of two charities that are very close to my heart. As I am only allowed one charity per JustGiving page I would ask you to please donate here for Whizz-Kidz and then visit http://www.justgiving.com/Amy-Scrivener-GuaAfrica to donate to GUA Africa aswell. I know that's asking even more of you but if you can, please do.
Firstly, Whizz-Kidz, a fantastic charity that my sister Emily works for as a trainer. Whizz-Kidz works to give disabled children the chance to live an independent life by providing mobility equipment, advice and training to children and their families. By encouraging an active lifestyle in children Whizz-Kidz make an immediate and life changing difference to theirs and their families lives.
I will also be running for GUA Africa, an amazing International childrens charity I have volunteered for who work with former child soldiers, their families and those affected by war and poverty in Kenya and Sudan. GUA works on a number of projects including child sponsorship at the Kariobangi School, Nairobi supporting slum children through their educations and the Survivors of War Fund which currently provides safety, support and education to young people from the Kakuma refugee camp in NW Kenya. Also, the Emma Academy, built on 15 acres of land in Leer, Southern Sudan bringing the first secondary school and training facility ever in the area to the local community.
I've been training hard already with the fabulous Jo who is running in aid of Clic Sargent and we both ran the Portsmouth Half Marathon last weekend in the wind and rain which while being fantastic has put into perspective just how far the big one really is! We're going to be upping the ante in training now so you can see we are trying to take this all very seriously!!!
Please, please give as much as you can to these incredible causes and come along and watch us do this thing on the 25th of April from 10am if you can!
