Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Right then, some of you may remember my past life as a runner. Others are possibly wondering who the hell I am. Whichever, I think I can say with no fear that it was all a long time ago and lets face it the most I ever ran on a regular basis was 400m max. So what could be more natural than an out of shape, out of form sprinter/hurdler tackling a half marathon? This is a natural progression, I'm sure you all agree...

So then, where do you come in? Well it wouldn't be the GNR without some form of charity sponsorship. And I am no exception. However my plans to run for the "Garthwaite Campaign for the Reconquest of the Empire" were thwarted as being unethical so instead I have renounced my imperialist ways and have dedicated myself to raising money for the Derwentside Carers Centre.

They are part of the Princess Royal Trust for Carers. The Princess Royal Trust for Carers was created on the initiative of HRH The Princess Royal in 1991. At that time people caring at home for family members or friends with disabilities and chronic illnesses were scarcely recognised as requiring support.

The Princess Royal Trust for Carers is the largest provider of comprehensive carers support services in the UK. Through its unique network of 144 independently managed Carers' Centres , 85 young carers services and interactive websites, www.carers.org and www.youngcarers.net, The Trust currently provides quality information, advice and support services to almost 354,000 carers, including over 20,000 young carers.

In addition, The Trust also acts independently in the interests of carers through:

* Research, development and consultation
* Influence on national, regional and local policy
* Partnerships with other national organisations
* Information through our interactive websites, providing advice and access to support groups

So what can you do? What can't you do? Join this group and get donating people! As my fellow shared birthdayite man, Bob Geldof, said "Give us your f**king money!". Links will follow to donate online or you can give in the old fashioned way through hard cash. Dollars, roubles, yen, I'll take it all. And unlike some of my school sweepstakes I promise not to keep it all... trust me, I'm a lawyer! So dig deep and give like you've never given before!
