Story
Andrew Hirst
Thanks for visiting my Just Giving page, I am a member of Wharfedale Harriers and enjoy Fell running especially in the Lake District, I have decided to attempt the following challenge to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and also to mark my 50th Birthday, the details of which appear below.
Joss Naylor Lakeland Challenge The route was inaugurated by the famous fell runner Joss Naylor MBE in 1990 as a fund raising challenge to the over 50’s, in addition to completing the route successful contenders must raise at least £100 for a charity of their choice. The challenge involves climbing 30 tops and crossing 48 miles of mountain terrain and ascending 17000ft. The route starts from Pooley Bridge Ullswater and finishes at Greendale Bridge Wasdale. Each age group as a varying time limit from 12 to 24hrs with different times for men and women. Pacers are mandatory for safety reasons. I hope to complete this challenge on Saturday 12th September 2009 and hopefully in under 12hours, shortly after my 50th birthday. My nominated charity is Macmillan cancer support. If you would like to sponsor me for this very worthy cause please sign attached form. Thanks Andy
