Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

On Friday 7th October my co-driver Dennis and I will be taking part in the 2016 Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability Run (see link to Club Triumph web-page:  http://www.club.triumph.org.uk/cgi-bin/comps/mxcontent.cgi?pid=3).  It is a bi-annual event which supports a different charity each time and this year celebrates 50 years, so the 25th RBRR.  It will be my 8th RBRR and Dennis's first and this year there will be about 150 cars running (we hope!), the most in the event's history and all of them old triumphs!

We will start from Knebworth House in Herts at about 6pm on the Friday evening and drive overnight to John O'Groats, arriving for breakfast at about 8am on Saturday.  We then travel across the top of Scotland and head south going through the locks and Glen Coe and then head down through Wales and out to the west country to reach Lands End for breakfast by about 8am on the Sunday morning.  The final stretch takes us back to Knebworth arriving early Sunday evening, or much later if we have any problems!  In total a distance of just over 2000 miles in 48 hours with no overnight stops, and all in Dennis's little damson 1971 GT6 MkIII.  As you can see from the early pictures she was in desperate need of attention and Dennis has been working his magic.  Since these pictures were taken (mid-July) she's had a complete engine and gearbox rebuild, interior trim renewed/replaced and windscreen seals replaced, in addition to all the other suspension and bodywork done, so hopefully we'll be good to go by 7th October!!!

Any donations, large or small, would be gratefully accepted via the justgiving web page.  In 2014 we managed to raise over £2750 for the McMillan Cancer charity, so no pressure but we'd like to clear at least £2500 this time!!!  Please note that all of your donations go to the charity, all the running costs and car preparations etc. is paid for by the entrants.

Thank you to those who have already sponsored us, and to those that haven't, we look forward to receiving your donations very soon.
