We raise funds for Myocarditis Research to improve survival rates across the UK

Story

I am taking part in this event to help raise awareness for this relatively unknown disease. Several high profile athletes have suffered at the hands of this disease, namely, Matt Dawson, Fabrice Muamba and Christian Eriksen. The disease is mainly predominant in young, fit and healthy men.

All the funds raised go directly to The Royal Brompton Hospital to fund research into early detection and cure.

There is no known cure at this stage.

I am taking on this challenge as this disease has had a direct impact on a friend and work colleague, whose step son, Alexander, sadly passed away as a result of the disease.

About the charity

Myocarditis kills one young person suddenly every week in the UK. We aim to raise awareness and fund life changing research into this little known heart condition so that it can be detected and diagnosed earlier and successfully treated to improve the outcome.
