Story
Hi - thanks for visiting my page and thinking about sponsoring my (hopefully successful) attempt to complete the London Marathon 2013.
I've never run a Marathon before - in fact, I've never run a half Marathon - so this is a real challenge for me both in terms of preparing and completing the run, but also in raising as much money as possible for Help The Hospices.
My grandmother, Joyce, passed away on 3 December, 2000 (some 12 years ago) and was cared for by the wonderful staff at our local Hospice. It touched me so much to see the care and support that the Hospice not only provided to my terminally ill grandmother, but more particularly my mother, who was naturally distraught at the prospect of losing her mother. The professionalism and dedication of the staff was unbelievable - and to imagine that such care and support is provided free of charge is quite astonishing in this day and age.
So quite simply, by running the Marathon, I hope to do my little bit to raise money for Help the Hospices so that another family will be provided with the same care and support that mine received all those years ago.
So, if you live locally, you will see me running around Lindfield and Haywards Heath come rain, hail or sunshine (I am going to draw the line at snow!) at around 6am during weekdays during my training runs.
A family somewhere in the UK will be really grateful for your donation to me today - and you will provide me with continued inspiration to get up at 5.45am and ultimately to complete the Marathon in 2013.
