Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Between 15th and 19th November 2010, I will be donating a week of my annual holiday to enter the Beaujolais Run 2010, a traditional Mad Dogs and Englishmen event which started in the early 1970s  -  see here :  www.beaujolaisrun.com/

ALL costs for this event, entrance, ferries, accommodation, fuel etc will be paid for entirely by myself.  I am therefore funding approximately 1,500 from my own pocket.

Why am I doing this ?

Both of the charities supported this year are focused on helping people with brain injuries after an accident, an often overlooked but desperately needed support system.

In the mid 1980s, my sister Petra had a motorbike accident, sustaining both head injuries and shattering her leg .... the leg was the easy part to fix.  I remember only too well how traumatic this was for Petra and all those who love her. Thankfully after a lot of love and support, determination from Petra and help from truly dedicated people, my beautiful sister recovered fully and is as mad as a box of frogs, but I guess that's sisters for you :)

Please help me raise money so that other people with brain injuries can receive the support and help they need to recover after unforeseen accidents, often affecting younger people with their whole lives ahead of them.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

THANK YOU on behalf of myself, our two nominated charities and Petty Pig, my little sister.

About the charity

The Richard Burns Foundation was created following the death of Richard Burns, the 2001 FIA World Rally Champion, from an astrocytoma, a form of brain tumour, in November 2005. The Foundation's mission is to support people with brain injury and illness.
