Dear Friends and Family
I will be turning 32 this year, and instead of any presents (presumptuous I know) I would like my friends and family to consider giving the money they would have spent on me, on a very worthy charity. As most of you will be aware, I lost my mother to cancer in 2006. She fell ill in November 2005 and by that December she was diagnosed as terminal. As the doctors predicted the inoperable brain tumour killed her some 2 months later. What shocked me, on reflection, was when the consultant's assistant stated that most patients brought into the hospital were already gone; by this she meant that the cancer had spread over their brain totally destroying their personality, character and functioning.Having conducted my own research of the disease online, the survival rate for grade 3-4 tumours is very low. I also know two other friends who have lost their parents to brain tumours.......it is not as rare as you may think......
More needs to be done in terms of research and understanding of brain tumours. For more information on my chosen charity please visit Brain Tumour Research Campaign at http://www.wayahead-btrc.org/ Please give generously.............
