Story

Hi, Sorry for the delay in updating this page.

The Outward Bound course has been and gone, and it was an experience. The kids we could tell got a lot from it and it was great we were able to give them that opportunity. The changes we saw in their attitudes throughout the week were heartwarming, and we know they will get a lot from this. We plan to visit the schools in a few weeks to see their progress and to get an account of what they thought of their week once they have time to reflect.

I still have some rowing to do, I apologise I never completed this in time, but weather and illness prevented me from completing this before the course.

Thanks again for your kind donations and support.

Hi and thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Next January I will be mentoring teenagers from several schools in the UK on a five-day Outward Bound Adventure!.

Each year, my employer, Unisys Ltd sponsors schools from three areas around the country and three Unisys mentors attend a course which we hope will be a week that is a life changing experience for the teenagers involved.

I have been fortunate to be selected to represent Unisys and so I now need your help!.

I need to raise at least £500 to go towards helping more children across the UK to benefit from an Outward Bound course.

As well as providing my own time (and Unisys providing me with time off work!) on the week long course (and hopefully heights and spiders wont be too involved!) I will be rowing the English channel!.. Don't panic, I won't actually be dicing with death in the shipping lanes, besides it's far too cold to do it now, Instead I will be rowing the equivalent distance of the English channel from Dover to Calais - and back - on a rowing machine at my local Gym!. That is 42 Miles in total!.

I have given myself until the 1st of January to complete this, about 2 months. I will update this page with progress as I go along!

I have heard of many testimonies of what this course can do for the children, in ways of improving self esteem, confidence, social skills, interactive ability and general attitude.

By way of team building exercises, roughing it a bit in the outdoors, problem solving and tackling challenges the children take away so much from the week that they can later use in their lives in so many ways.

Please click on this link www.theoutwardboundtrust.org.uk  for more details of what the OBT does and how it helps children in the community. Our bus will be heading for the OBT centre at Aberdovey, Snowdonia in Wales, check out the pics above!.

Thank you all for giving generously!.
