********** UPDATE **********

Well we completed the walk........ turned out to be more like 36miles rather than 26!!  We started at 1.30am, head torches at the ready!  We walked through the night and finally reached Ben Nevis Visitors centre at 10am, that was the first part of the walk completed!  It was then time for a change of clothes, patch up the blisters and then attempt Ben Nevis.  At this point we didnt think there was much chance of us reaching the top, due to bad weather conditions and horrendous blisters!

We eventually reached the top, which was thick with snow and very poor visibility.  So we didnt even get to appreciate the views!!

We made it back down to the bottom of Ben Nevis at 6.30pm, a full 17 hours after we started!  Time for a good hot meal and a quick pint before bed!

A big thank you to everyone for their support and sponsorship!

********** UPDATE **********

Hello everyone!

Thank you for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page.

We are taking part in a sponsored walk on the 17th April, this will be a gruelling 26 mile hike from Glen Coe to Ben Nevis.  This includes a climb of 8,200 feet to the summit of Ben Nevis, which is the highest mountain in the British Isles.

We are raising funds for the Tartan Army Childrens Charity, who donates to worthy causes in Scotland and all over the world.  Donations of money, vital equipment and clothing have been made to childrens hospitals, orphanges and schools throughout Europe.

The charity's aim is to bring happieness to disadvantaged children where ever the Scottish national football side play - at home and abroad!  Previously the charity has raised £11,000 to help blind and homeless children in Kiev, Ukraine, £16,000 for children in Tbilisi, Georgia and £12,000 for street children in Skopje, Macedonia.  We also assist children in Scotland with domestic circumstances and from disadvantaged backgrounds.  The charity assists neglected children in Scotland from deprived areas and its motto is simple "Supporting Scotland Supporting Children".

Also, in 2008 Scotland supporters donated Christmas presents to over 300 children who are supported by Aberlour Child Care Trust and this will be repeated again this year.

Here are the details of the walk:-

TACC Kiltwalk - Glen Coe to Ben Nevis - 17 April 2010

2am start ......... yes 2am! this is to maximise the daylight while at the summit of Ben Nevis.  The total distance is 26.5 miles with total ascent of 8,200 feet (3,800 on West Highland Way plus 4,400 feet up Ben Nevis). The weather is likely to be very cold with probable strong winds and possible heavy rain, sleet, snow or hail.  All going well, it should take between 12-16 hours, including summiting Ben Nevis, rest stops and accounting for weather and different fitness levels.

We hope you agree that this is a worthy cause and you can donate something, no matter how little it all helps.  Here is a link to the website for more information, we are trying to do our bit by taking part in these walks.
