Story
Blimey - its all over - 302 miles - head down watching the wheel in front, praying for no more hills and being continually disappointed. I had a great time doing this in a sort of strange masochistic way - my legs were made of lead for 3 days after we got back - but I am now walking more like Robert Mitchum than John Wayne which I think is good progress. The secret was triple padding - padded saddle, padded shorts, padded undies - but I have to say that lycra is not a great look for me!!
Thank you all so much for the support both with sponsorship and encouragement.
I think this is a little like childbirth - you forget the pain once all the fuss is over - so I think I may be up for another challenge soon but perhaps will leave it for a year or so and let my body recover!
Having ridden for several hours a day in temperatures of 25 degrees plus I expected to have lost weight - unfortunately muscle weighs heavier than fat and I put on 4 pounds!
I must say it was a privelege meeting some of the other riders - especially a chap called Miike who attempted the ride on a hand bike as he has limited use of his legs following an accident. Riding into Paris on a Saturday afternoon in convoy with him and the rest of the riders was a great feeling, and something I will never forget.
Right if the challenge is over its back to the chocolate biscuits.......
