Story
As most of you visiting this page will know, in March 2010 my lovely Mum was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. She passed away 4 short months later, just a few days shy of her 67th Birthday and less than 2 years into her retirement. She is missed terribly by the very many people who loved her.
I am running the Brighton Marathon in April 2011 in memory of my Mum and to raise much needed funds for the Martlets Hospice in Hove. The Martlets looked after my Mum in the last months of her life and crucially gave her care in her own home in the most difficult last few days. Mum was able to die at home – something she so very much wanted – and this is entirely down to the ‘Martlets At Home’ service that was made available to her and us as a family. I cannot put a price on the value of practical and emotional support offered to us, her family members, during that challenging time and we quite simply would not have been able to manage without them.
The Martlets needs almost £5million every year to continue to provide this much-needed service to the local community. Without it, families like ours would have no choice but to spend those precious last days and hours in a hospital environment.
It is my great honour & pleasure to raise money for the Martlets and I hope that you will sponsor me so that I can raise as much money as possible for this fantastic cause... and help me pay tribute to my wonderful Mum, Sheila.
Thank you,
Angela xx
