UPdate : We’ve completed the trek to Everest Base Camp amd climbed Kala Patthar and are on our way back to Jersey. High altitude environments ARE mentally and physically challenging but we did it and the whole upper Khumbu valley is just jaw droppingly beautiful. We hope to continue fund raising for Autism Jersey around our trek challenge, please.
The trek takes 13 days overland out of Kathmandu and will take us to the high altitude of the Khumbu Glacier. We fly to Lukla (2800m) then climb over the next 10 days to reach Everest Base Camp at (5300m) and ascend Kala Pattar (5545m). We will be above 4500 metres for 5 days with temperature ranging between 20 degrees and minus 20 degrees.
All in all it’s a 19 day trip and we are anticipating a real physical and mental challenge, and who knows maybe some enlightenment too! Last year we did a six day trip along the West Highland way and Ben Nevis and raised over £2000 for Autism Jersey. We hope to at least match that this year.
