Story

Hi,

Thanks for visiting my JustGiving sponsorship page!.

Also look at few interesting qestion some one asked me at the bottom of page.

Marine Conservation Society (http://www.mcsuk.org/) is a dynamic, innovative and solutions based charity working to establish vital marine protected areas where wildlife can recover and flourish, clear our coasts and seas of the litter that kills seabirds, dolphins turtles and other wildlife, and reduce the overfishing which is devastating the life in our seas.

I would be jumping out of a plane (13,000 ft) on the 7th of August to raise money for MCS and every contributions you make would significantly help me in achieving this goal! :-)

Why am I doing it:

1) I think its a nobel idea to save the environment we live in and this gives an opportunity to make that difference.

2) Its a challenging task to raise money. But its fruitfull when done for a cause.

3) For the fun of diving out of the sky in addition to charity :).

If you wish to sponsor me, kindly provide your full name along with your contribution.

Question

-----------------

1) Do you eat fish?

Ans : Yes I do. But the issue & solution here is not to make people eating fish averse but to make them aware of the concept of sustainable fishing. MCS(Marine Conservation Society) publishes pocket good fish guide which details which fish are on the brink of extinction and should be avoided.

2) If yes, what kind of fish?

Ans : I am not a big fan of fish but I generally eat Cod and Pollock which are both green in MCS survey which means they are not endagered. Also generally I buy my fish from Sainsbury which is a big supermarket in UK . I am glad to now they have been ranked second rgarding wild capture policy,Aquaculture policy and which fish should be eaten and which should be avoided.

3) Do you boycott BP? If yes, how?

Ans : I dont think I can use the word boycott. BP is currently doing whatever possible to rectify the situation. I firmly support the US goverment decision to make BP pay for all the losses incurred (Bio life & in general).

4) What was your environmental footprint in 2009? Approx number would be sufficient obviously

Ans: Honestly speaking I never heard of that term but googled it to find more about it. I tried to calculate it using some

of the calculators avaliable and  it has come to 4.6 tonnes CO2 with an ecological footprint of 2.9 global hectares.

5) Why not adopt a turtle as advertised on the mcsuk.org website and give the turtle a DB related name?

Ans: Planning to do so with other grads and name it DBG10(Deutsche bank Grad)

6) How exactly does a fish benefit from you jumping out of a plane?

Ans: 1) Jumping from the plane is a dangerous act and can cost one life. This gives me the platform to raise money for MCS

1) Sustainable fishing

2) Wildlife protection

3) Clean sea beaches

I am not providing more info here as it can be found from website http://www.mcsuk.org/ . So the point is by helping MCS, I am helping that particular fish which might get extinct from the face of earth if we don't take action. Also, I think the most important thing is awareness, just by trying to raise money I am sending mail and contacting people and giving them info which is helping more in the actual cause than simple money.

Many Thanks for your support,

Anil Chauhan
