Story
Hi ya!
I've done a silly thing....Ive entered a running race having been totally blown away by watching the London Marathon this year. Most of you will know that although I am a pretty active little missy, I drink like a fish and smoke like a chimney. Soooo, why not try to challenge myself with an iccle 10k run? Surely a more sensible aim for ...er...'Marathon woman' (Yes that is going to be my new nickname) than the 26.whatever miles those lunatics ran last month in London-Especially that bloke in a donkey suit....PAH! I want to do something good for my sanity, my health and to attain an incredibly flawless bikini body in time for summer, but also for a charity that is close to my heart....and happens to be my nickname....
Established in 1923, SPANA (The Society For The Protection Of Animals Abroad) is committed to alleviating the suffering of working animals in some of the world's poorest communities in Africa and the Middle East.
SPANA vets provide free, immediate veterinary treatment as well as an extensive education programme teaching owners and children how to better care for and respect their animals.
I HAVE QUIT SMOKING, I HAVE CUT DOWN MY DRINKING DRASTICALLY AND I MAY EVEN BE PERSUADED TO WEAR A DONKEY SUIT....IF WE SMASH THE MODEST £350 TARGET....come on, you know you want a giggle.
- £5 will buy a pair of hoof cutters, giving relief from painful feet to hundreds of hard-working horses and donkeys
- £15 will cover the cost of feed and bedding for a five day stay for an injured donkey recovering at one of SPANAS animal hospitals
- £25 will pay for a visit to an animal hospital by local school children, where they will learn to respect and value animals and their environment.
By sponsoring me to run the BUPA London 10,000 on BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY MAY 31st (Yes...this coming Monday) you will be helping working animals in the marathon journeys they often complete every day of their lives.YOU ALL ROCK!....but animals rock more.
