We fund research into SMA to help find a cure and treatments

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Sunday 5th March 2017 I will be taking part in the Vodafone Malta Walkathon, walking the distance of a half marathon in memory of my friend's little girl Amber Ivy Mills and to raise money for The SMA Trust. Beautiful Amber, who touched everyone with her gorgeous smile, sadly passed away in September 2016 aged just 4 months old from Type 1 SMA.

Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is an inherited progressive neuromuscular condition that in its most severe form is the leading genetic cause of death in children under 2.  The SMA Trust are dedicated to finding a cure and treatments for SMA, and funds over 75% of UK charity-funded SMA research and is entirely dependent on voluntary donations.

Recently in America, a new drug called Spinraza was approved as a treatment for SMA types 1-3. This is a major step forward and hopefully with the hardwork of The SMA Trust, there will be a similar outcome in the UK very soon.

Please sponsor me to show your love and support - every little helps! We will always remember you precious little Amber Ivy xxx
