Hi, I'm Tony Kujawa, the 2021 Club Captain at Cumberwell Park Golf Club near Bradford on Avon.  This year we've chosen to raise funds for the NHS through the, 'Forever Friends Appeal' RUH, Bath.

We're hoping to raise £13,000 which will take the total raised by Cumberwell over the years to £50,000!

If we reach £50,000 The RUH have confirmed we’d have the opportunity to name a prominent room in the new Dyson Cancer Centre which is scheduled to open in 2023. What a great acknowledgment of the fantastic  fundraising efforts of the James family, our members and their family and friends.

The choice of the appeal for the RUH was easy, it's our local hospital and many of us have reason to thank the NHS during this difficult past year.  We all know a friend or family member who've needed their services.  This appeal is extra special to me, as several close friends and family members have benefited from the professional and tender care every patient gets at the RUH.  Also my youngest daughter Rachel works at the RUH as a Senior Sister and Emergency Nurse Practitioner in the A&E Department.  We're very proud Rachel has chosen to serve in this way, following in the footsteps of her Grandma and Auntie as a third generation NHS nurse.

We started the appeal in July with an NHS week, this raised over £8,000! We held various events including "buy a nurse a cuppa”, a Captain's Charity Golf Day, a Fun Day and I completed an 81 hole Golfathon in one day!  My Golfathon raised over £6,000 which was amazing.

Our main fund-raising event now is a Grand NHS Draw in September. Members, visitors and well-wishers can buy their virtual ticket(s) for £10 from our reception or by phone.  We’ve some fabulous donated prizes some of which money couldn’t buy.  Prizes include 4 ball vouchers at over 20 clubs throughout the South West.  Rounds with some of our attached professionals. Coaching sessions with our resident professionals. A top of the range golf bag, a wonderful food hamper, £100 restaurant vouchers plus many more prizes.

Members, who buy a ticket also get free entry into a fantastic 2s competition.  The winner gets a new Callaway Driver!  

Our original target for the 2021 appeal was £7,000 but we beat that in one month, so we've raised the target to £13,000.   I'd like to think that our 1200 members, friends, guests, partners and visitors at Cumberwell could exceed even that figure for a cause so dear to all our hearts.
