Story
Hi
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I have toyed with the idea of running a marathon for a few years now but really couldn't find the inspiration to actually commit to the training and torture of doing it ! Then in January this year, my young 13 year old nephew Aaron was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and I then discovered just how little I really knew about this condition and how it would affect him and his familys life. It was a real eye opener to the struggles of daily life for diabetes sufferers but the way Aaron has coped with it and taken it all in his stride has inspired me to take on the challenge at last. So I'm running the Edinburgh Marathon on 23 May 2010, 26.2 miles of pounding agony but its all for a very worthwhile cause, Diabetes UK Scotland.
I am throwing myself into a 14 week training programme from 15 February 2010 and think, based on the past experience of the half marathons I have completed, I know just how difficult the big one is going to be ! I have pledged to raise over £2,000 and I hope that with your sponsorships and words of encouragement, it will push me all the harder in training and on race day. Anything at all you can donate will be much appreciated and not only will you be contributing to a worthy charity you will also be showing your support to me, so please, dig deep.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Diabetes UK Scotland gets your money faster and if you're a UK resident taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
A big thank you in advance,
Arthur
