I decided to run the 2024 London Marathon in support of MediCinema, the charity closest to my heart. Having dedicated time as a volunteer with this charity, and working on a hospital ward, I've witnessed the profound impact a simple film can have on individuals
in the hospital, irrespective of the duration or reason for their stay.

Cinema has a transformative power. It serves as a source of encouragement for patients pre-surgery, offers respite during treatments, and acts as a motivator for recovery and rehabilitation. A visit to MediCinema not only offers patients a chance to enjoy a film but also serves as an opportunity for socialisation, providing them with a sense of normality during challenging times.

Reflecting on my work in a Japanese hospital, a particular patient's story remains in my memory. Her last wish was to watch a film in a cinema. To collaborate with a local cinema, medical teams and family, we worked to grant her wish.  Although she had had pain and her condition was weak, she enjoyed the film without feeling pain. She showed us her beautiful smiles afterwards, which we could see after a long time. That moment is unforgettable and remains in my heart.

While Japan does not have MediCinema, the UK does! Having personally experienced the importance and significance of MediCinema, I believe that this charity deserves broader recognition and extend the services.
