Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit Ayesha & Richard's JustGiving page.

On the 27th of June 2013 Ayesha & Richard will be competing in The R3 London & South East Women's Group, Strictly Dancing event in aid of Debbie Fund and Orchid.

Ayesha Hasan

Ayesha is a partner of Locke Lord (UK) LLP. Though technically a real estate lawyer she has spent the last 5 years working and making a name for herself in the insolvency and restructuring arena. She has significant experience in real estate related insolvency and restructuring and has been involved in some of the biggest and most complex administrations and receiverships over the last few years. She has also spent many sleepless nights trying to find a way of becoming famous so that she can dance with one of the professional dancers on the TV show Strictly Come Dancing and win the Glitterball. Whilst this is still a work in progress her dream is almost being fulfilled by performing live in front of many of the  UK banking/restructuring/insolvency industry with her wonderful and talented partner Richard.

Richard Saunders

Richard believes he is what every girl dreams of in a dance partner: leading, naturally rhythmical, great rise and fall in hold and his flickle is something to behold. He is in many ways Fred Astaire’s more accomplished brother: the very essence of ballroom…

However in the real world he is making the best of it with what little (and we mean little) talent he has. He again would wish to contrast this small talent with what are his better skills in the day job as a senior lawyer at Moon Beever where he specializes in complex, often multi jurisdictional, insolvency cases almost always involving fraud. He is a very experienced litigator in particular in the area of VAT and Excise Duty fraud.

He would like to dedicate his dancing exploits to all those dancing greats who have gone before him. However those truly deserving of thanks are the wonderful teacher Tina who has shown that two left feet are not a complete obstacle, to his family who think this is the funniest thing they have ever heard of, and especially to his marvellous dance partner Ayesha who has shown more patience and ability to not mock the afflicted than one can imagine: she has shown that standing on one’s partners toes may not be encouraged but is at least tolerated…

Debbie Fund

Cervical cancer affects 500,000 women globally every year. In the UK 3,000 are diagnosed and 1,000 will tragically die; that is almost 3 women like Debbie every day. In the developing world the problem is more serious because there is no screening and limited treatment. Debbie Fund was set up in Debbie's name but hers is one of thousands of similar stories.

Debbie Fund is highly focused on raising money so that research scientists at the UCL Cancer Institute can find a drug to help cure cervical cancer. We want another option for women when the first round of treatment does not work.

The funds raised by R3's Strictly Dancing will enable Debbie Fund  and Orchid continue to invest in their pioneering work.
