I'm sure you all very aware of the hopeless situation in Pakistan, already devastated by earthquakes, and now floods.  Many of it's poorest people are left with less than they already had.  So having already packed container loads of food and clothing off to where it is needed, we need to work on improving the infrastructure so that more aid can get to where it is needed.  This is why I chose Oxfam as the charity to support in this work, they have a great track record in providing long term initiatives as well as immediate relief.

Ideally I would have liked to have climbed an impressive mountain in Pakistan like K2, but being quite out of shape and out of pocket have settled on Ras Dashen the highest peak in Ethiopia, an impressive 4600m (14,928 ft).  And the fact that I have not done any serious climbing before!!!  I also have my insurance policy of taking a doctor with me, just in case!

So please support us in this endeavor to push ourselves a bit and make some money for a very worthwhile cause! Better break in those boots and pack the rucksack!

P.S. We felt we should do something for the local community as well.  Ayesha has been fantastic and managed to score an ultrasound machine and some training to use it already! And we have now have formal approval for painting the Children's Ward at the hospital at Gondar, we hope to make it a cheerful and happier place with lots of bright colours (currently on the lookout for stencils and patterns).  If you would like to contribute toward this project I have a collection tin (old paint tin of course!) to stuff full of cash & cheques so that we can buy lots of coloured paints -Thanks again!!
