An Interview With B1 Hustle

Are you doing anything interesting to train for your event?

We all sit on the bus on the way to the gym, and rub our thighs - Velour's comfort is too good to be true. We train so hard we’re late for everything, running on nothing but Brazil nuts, Ribena and a full English from the canteen.

Have you overcome any obstacles?

None of us can swim, but we are all too shallow to drown, so, it’s not really an obstacle. So no.

Who will be your biggest competition?

I'd rather burn my house down than admit to having competition....FRACTURE CLINIC LADIES! That place is sponsored entirely by Asbos and Matalan.

Do you have any secret weapons or techniques?

Secret weapons: Whips, and copious amounts of lycra.

Techniques: We view ourselves like horses, there are some that would be best suited to show jump, some to pulling stuff and others to race other horses. This is a visual metaphor for the team.

How do you feel about the event?

Passionately. Too many times have each of us in the team had to be part of someone’s final few hours of life, when they and their families wishes have been compromised due to a lack of resources. Being able to raise money and awareness by taking part in this event is such a massive privilege, if it changes just a few people’s experiences then it will be worth all the effort the teams and organizers have put into it.

Do you think you have a chance of winning and how are you planning on doin this?

This is our winners plan

-wake up

-Ride dirt bike through flaming hoop and appear badass

- Eat something badass (pasta)

- Nap

- Watch The Price is Right

- Say cool one liner "B1-Hustle"

- Throw cigarette in slow motion into Gas-covered bad guy

- do something badass

- Sleep in pit of snakes

Not a cat in hells chance of winning

The Purple Butterfly Appeal is an appeal on behalf of the Rotherham Hospital Charity and it has been established to raise funds to enhance the care that can be provided at the end of life.

It is difficult to exaggerate the importance of good end of life care. After all, we only ever have one chance to get it right. We all have an idea of how we'd like to spend the last weeks, days and hours of our lives, but in reality, this choice is very often taken away from us.

Families and the dying person themselves should be given every opportunity to have a healing environment during this difficult, life changing/ending process.

Here are just a couple of examples of the kind of things your support could provide.

An Iris Suite

A home from home, where patients who spend their last few days in hospital (for whatever reason) can be cared for with the support of relatives and friends.

Comfort Packs

The provision of simple packs containing basic essentials for relatives who come unplanned and need to stay.
All funds raised will be spent enhancing provision for people at the end of life and will be allocated according to priorities agreed to support the End of Life Strategy.
