Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
After seeing the amazing difference that the S.A.L.V.E.(Support And Love Via Education) team have already made to children's lives in Uganda, my sister Lucy and I have decided we want to help.
As neither of us have ever run beyond the obligatory (and life-threatening) 1,500 metres at school we decided the Sheffield Half would be sufficiently taxing for 2010.
S.A.L.V.E. provides a rare opportunity to see 100% of donations go straight where they are desperately needed. As the charity is still small, every penny makes a real difference.
Here's the science bit:
S.A.L.V.E. International is a British-based charity working to get children off the streets in Jinja, eastern Uganda.
S.A.L.V.E. is focused on those who are most vulnerable and at risk; street children. Abandoned, orphaned, and rejected - they are Uganda's forgotten children, with few individuals willing to help pull these children out of their desperate situations. S.A.L.V.E. wants to give these children the opportunity to leave their difficult pasts behind them and move forward, towards a brighter future.
As well as helping individual children through sponsorship, S.A.L.V.E. works to benefit the whole community and in particular to improve educational facilities. Fundraising is essential to this.
Whether or not you are able to sponsor this particular event, please do take the time to have a look at the website.
