Story

UPDATE: check out the pictures of some team members undertaking a strenuous training session from the office...!

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

We are aiming to raise at least £20,000 for Help for Heroes by taking part in the annual Welsh Castles Road Relay Challenge on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 June 2010.

The team will collectively run a distance of over 210 miles from Caernarfon Castle in the north to Cardiff Castle in the south over 2 days.  Each runner will complete one stage of between 9 and 13 miles (some of which will involve a vertical climb of over 1000ft) in a relay race.  The race is not only a huge physical challenge for each runner, but it it is also a logistical one as the team is responsible for negotiating the route to get runners, food and water to the right places and the right people at the right time!

The team is being generously supported by the Burges Salmon Charitable Trust and ISG, the company responsible for the fit out of the firm's new office at One Glass Wharf, so that EVERY PENNY raised will go directly to Help for Heroes.

Help for Heroes

Help for Heroes was founded in October 2007 out of a desire to help the wounded servicemen and women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq.  It is a non-political and non-critical charity which exists simply to help injured service personnel returning from war.  Anyone who volunteers to serve in time of war, knowing that they may risk all, is a hero.  These servicemen and women are ordinary people doing extraordinary things and some of them live with the consequences of their service for life.   Long-term injuries need long-term solutions and, going forward, Help for Heroes aims to supplement the available facilities and care so that those in rehabilitation get the very best facilities and treatment in order to recover from their injuries and rebuild their careers and their lives.

We are sure you will agree that it is an extraordinarily worthwhile charity to support.

Training to date

"Room for improvement" is probably the most accurate assessment.  There has been the odd lunch time run up and down the Avon Gorge in a vague attempt to prepare ourselves for the reality of Snowdonia and Brecon, and weekly hill training sessions have been contemplated from the comfort of our offices.  Let's just hope the team are all undertaking their training in secret...
