Story
Today we passed another milestone and reached our target of £4,000 for NDCS. Thank you to everyone who supported us!
Well, the race is run. We completed it in 5:41:38. An awesome achievement. We set a PB for the first half marathon of 2:31:01. I hadn't pushed Robert any further than 10 miles in one go in training. Unfortunately, to prevent injury to my knees, I had to walk a lot from mile 15/16, but was able to walk a lot faster than some runners. Thank you to everyone for your support. We have made some new friends along the way :-)
A friend and I decided to enter in the Brighton Marathon in April 2015. We did this in support of National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) to raise awareness of children with any disability to get a fair education. I chose to go with Robert Green, because he struggled through school. Robert is Deaf and has Cerebral Palsy; he is unable to use his legs so is in a wheelchair.
Please support us however you can.

Some NDCS facts and figures:
- There are over 45,000 deaf children living in the UK.
- 90% of deaf children are born to hearing parents with little or no experience of deafness or knowledge of how to communicate with a deaf person.
- Deafness is not a learning disability. There is no reason why the majority of deaf children should achieve any less than hearing children.
- 40% of deaf children have additional needs.- Four babies are born deaf every day.
