We promote research into brain tumours to close the funding gap for brain tumours

Story

When I founded BTRC in 2004 after the death of my husband John, his neurosurgeon Kevin O’Neill and I wanted to create a sustainable Centre of Excellence for Brain Tumour Research at Imperial College’s Charing Cross Hospital. 16 years later we have invested £3.5 million into translational research, thanks to your support.

This year, more than ever, your help is vital - the Covid-19 pandemic has had a catastrophic effect on BTRC’s fundraising.  We have been unable to hold any of our regular fundraising events, so our income is likely to drop by at least 50%, placing our research in jeopardy. Our limited financial reserves can only keep the research going for a short time - so there is a serious risk that vital research will have to stop.

The incidence of brain tumours continues to rise and patients’ lives are at risk – brain tumours still kill more people under 40 than any other cancer and research is still deplorably underfunded.

WE URGENTLY NEED YOUR HELP!   Please give whatever you can to keep the research work going - whether it is £5, £50 or £500 (or more!).  BTRC pledges that 100% of ALL donations go directly to the research - ALL administrative costs are borne by our volunteers and sponsors - so whatever you give will make a difference.

About the charity

BTRC works with a Neurosciences team at Charing Cross and Hammersmith Hospitals (Imperial College London) to promote research into the causes of brain tumours and possible new treatments, to raise public awareness of the desperate need for this research and the current lack of funding.
