Event: DFX Takes on the Tenner to Tons Challenge
We use sport to empower young people to be confident, healthy, and happy.

Story

The DFX department at Barclays is taking part in a fundraiser called Tenner to Tons which is run by the charity Scottish Sports Futures. Teams who are participating must transform £10 into as much money as possible through any means of entrepreneurship. We plan to do this by challenging the department to collectively walk, run or cycle 500km between 1st Nov and 30th Nov. The initial £10 will be used to motivate the team as it will go towards a prize for the individual who accumulates the most km throughout the month. Sport and exercise plays a significant role in supporting mental and physical wellbeing. Therefore, our challenge hopes to encourage the team to get exercising and the money we raise will be used by Scottish Sports Futures to support vulnerable and disadvantaged young people and families in Scotland using the power of sport and physical activity to help them become confident, happy and healthy. Any donations made to support us with our challenge are greatly appreciated and all funds raised from this challenge will go to Scottish Sports Futures.

Our team comprises of Samantha Ovenstone, Martin Allan, Sophie Sands, Gillian Murray, Gordon McGowan, Kieran Boyle, Jacqueline Gatali, Michael Watts, Graham Maddison, Paul Bone, Siobhan Rorrison, Chloe Pettigrew, Amna Bhatti, Tahira Parvez-Riaz and Josephine Abu Rorobi.

About the charity

Our vision is a world where young people have the opportunity to fulfil their potential. We work to combat the effects of living in poverty and buffer against trauma and adversity. Focused in the most challenged communities, we are privileged to work alongside exceptional young people.
