The crazy haired lady in the photo above is Belle! She’s a cricket playing, choir singing, bow and arrow wielding, Nordic walking, vegan scientist with a zest for life and an amazing amount of hair!

Belle has experienced first hand the devastation that a cancer diagnosis brings and the determination and resilience required for those fortunate enough to win their battle and journey on the long road to remission and recovery.

Earlier this year Belle spent a mystery week with Odyssey, I could tell you more about it but that would ruin the ‘mystery’ for any future participants (and I’d probably have to kill you)! Odyssey is a charity that draws on the majesty of the outdoor environment, the Arts, the stimulation of uncertainty and surprise to help cancer patients and cancer survivors of all ages and backgrounds regain their confidence and zest for life. The mystery week aims to help participants overcome the emotional and physical devastation caused by the illness by allowing them to move beyond a time of introspection and despair, and regain a sense of control of the next stage of their lives.

Needless to say this is a cause very close to Belle’s heart which is why she has decided to support them through this fundraising page.

“But what are we supporting”, I hear you say.

Well, Belle has decided that after 18 months of growing her marvellous mane that it’s time to cut it off and donate it to The Little Princess Trust who provide free real hair wigs to children and young people, up to 24 years, who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.

So you see, by supporting Belle’s Big Chop you are actually supporting two charities for the price of one!

Belle’s Big Chop will take place on August 25th in the middle of the pitch at Leicestershire County Cricket Club during the innings break of their last T20 match!! If all that wasn’t exciting enough, one lucky supporter of Belle’s Big Chop will be chosen on the day to wield the scissors and chop off Belle’s hair!!

So dig deep people and give whatever you can give!
