I have been donating to Helen & Douglas house for the last few years and I think the work that they do helping families through tough times is amazing and inspirational. I have never directly needed their support but know of people who have and can see how much help and happiness they provide. I feel I want to step up from my monthly donations and do something really big that will make a difference and go further, I am very happy I came across this mission enabling people to do just that. Here is my mission ;

MY MISSION:

Kilimanjaro is the highest free standing mountain in the world, its highest point, to which I will be climbing is 5,895 metres (19,341 ft).

To reach the summit I, along with many other fund raisers, will have to trek through desert, jungle, rocky landscape and ice, led by fund raising experts rare adventures. The summit night itself will see me setting off at midnight in temperatures below freezing.

This journey will be no easy ride, bare in mind I am a chef who probably eats too much and never hikes up mountains, I am definitely going to have to put in a lot of training if I want to be successful in reaching the summit. In total it will take 6 days of trekking to the top through all types of landscapes and changing temperatures carrying a bag of around 10kg.

Helen & Douglas house provides medical, emotional and practical support, helping families deal with the implications of living with a child who will die prematurely, so they can make the most of their time together.

Helen & Douglas House can only operate thanks to voluntary income. 85% of the £5 million they need to raise each year comes from income generated by members of the public-People like you and me. This is why it is so important to try and help as much as possible. Without our help this wonderful place simply wouldn't run.

I myself will be donating to this trek and reaching my target won't be possible without your help and support. Please donate and help me raise my target or hopefully more. Everything helps.
