Story

Thank you for visiting our page.

On 19th September 2010 Mum and I completed the 5k walk at London's Hyde Park, to help raise money for Lynn's Bowel Cancer Campaign. Mum set a nippy pace from the start and we completed the circuit in just under an hour!

Mum was diagnosed with bowel cancer in June 2007 following routine bowel cancer screening. She underwent an operation to have part of her bowel removed and thanks to the excellent care from the team at St. Georges Hospital in Tooting, was soon on the road to recovery.

3 years on and Mum is doing well. She returns to the Hospital every 6 months for tests and scans, and if the next tests are clear she won't have to go back for anymore.

Mum wanted to take part in this 5k fund raiser because she wanted to show her appreciation for the Doctors and Nurses at St.Georges Hospital who treated her and cared for her throughout what was a very frightening experience. She also wanted to support Lynn's Bowel Cancer Campaign in raising awareness of bowel cancer and the importance of early diagnosis.

I am proud to have taken part in the walk with my Mum. She has been incredibly brave, particularly as the only other time she has had to stay in Hospital was when she had me - nearly 40 years ago! I too am very grateful to the Consultants, Doctors and Nurses who played a part in making it possible for her to still be here with me today.

Please sponsor us and help us raise money and awareness for this cause, so that maybe somebody else might get to keep their Mum for longer too.

Thank you.

Sam
