Story

When Dave’s illness impacted his physical movement I silently said to myself - I’ll always do physical activity because I can.

I remember vividly the look on Dave’s face when he was able to use the hydrotherapy pool at the hospice. Imagine that feeling - you are unable to move but then you are taken into a safe loving environment where you can move or at least have the feeling that you can. It felt like physical exercise for Dave.

The Camino trek will be my seventh international challenge for the hospice following the loss of Dave. Having previously trekked the Great Wall of China, cycled Vietnam to Cambodia, reached Machu Picchu by following the Inca trail Peru and trekking to the dizzy heights of Kilimanjaro. This year we will also be trekking the mountains of Croatia and cycling from Milan to Venice.

This is what I can do physically with the tremendous support I receive from you to ensure these services continue. The hospice and it’s services are a lifeline for people like us.

Life can change in an instant. Some good has to come out of the loss of an incredible man. I believe we met for a reason and now I have an opportunity to help a cause that helped Dave.
