Event: St Luke's Hospice (Harrow And Brent) - Midnight Walk 2010, on 11 June 2010
We help people facing terminal illness to have the best quality of life possible

Story

Thank you for your support and sponsorship - every amount raised will help a wonderful Charity. Walk was fantastic, such a wonderful atmosphere with lots of motivated ladies all joining together with one mission in mind. I managed to do the walk in 3 hours - feeling so pleased.

I guess this is the part where i explain to you exactly what i need you here for, and to get you to donate to St. Luke's Hospice via justgiving!

I am going to join in a Ladies Only Midnight walk on 11th June 2010. The walk covers a 9 mile route that passes through Harrow Weald, Stanmore, Kingsbury and Kenton. It is organised by St. Luke's hospice, I would like to help raise money for them as they help those affected by cancer and other life threatening illnesses. They help people to live life to the full, for whatever time they have, no matter how long or short.  Their phase 'St Luke's focus on adding life to days, even when days can’t be added to life' shows how important care and the services they offer are.

I have a close family member who has been diagnosed with a brain tumour and is recieving support from St. Luke's,  I've also found out since registering for this walk other people whom I know also being supported and cared by St. Lukes.  One of my uncles had cancer and I know how much hospice helps to make their life more 'normal' and comfortable. They provide care, support, treatment, help organise equipment which may required which would otherwise take too long to organise via other routes. I want to raise money for St. Luke's Hospice so that they are able to continue providing such valuable services.

The Midnight Walk 2009 raised an outstanding £168,000 for St Luke’s Hospice, and with Hospice running costs increasing, this year they want to hit £200,000!

  • £40 could help relieve symptoms including pain, breathlessness, nausea and anxiety by paying for the cost of a complementary therapy session
  • £60 could could help patients access high quality hospice care in the familiar surroundings of their own home by paying for a home visit from one of our nurses, doctors or social workers
  • £140 will pay for drugs for a day
  • £500 could help run a study day to educate our local GPs, district nurses or others in the management of advanced symptom control and so spread our work further afield

* I have started training - well been for two walks!! One walk was 4 miles no probs in an hour...so hope to increase distance walked before the big day.

* I recieved my welcome pack, all set now.....so please sponser me to do the walk...the more money raised the more motivation.

* 6 Weeks to go.....give what you can.....SO if it means you giving up a night out, a new top, shoes, dvd or that pizza hut you have been craving then please SPARE it and donate!

* Walked 5.7miles in 1hr 35mins...not bad....still need to get a good pair of trainers...hmmm

Thank you
