Story
My wife has had a deteriorating lung condition for many years and in January 2013 she was told she had 18 months left to live unless she had a lung transplant. She was referred to the UK’s main heart and lung transplant centre, Papworth Hospital, where she was told the average wait is two years and only one fifth of donated lungs can be used. By Christmas she was deteriorating rapidly and we feared the worst. On 9th January Papworth rang to say they had a possible lung for her and on January 10th she received a life saving single lung transplant.
I am a boring, middle aged man with a receding hair line and bald patch on top. I am raising money for Papworth by getting my hair dyed once a week in September, each week’s design will be more flamboyant than the last. I will update this page with photos as the month progresses. The money will help research to increase the number of potential donated lungs and to extend the life expectancy of lung transplant patients.
